When love stays

Learning to bear witness instead of fixing
one of the most
healing things humans do
for each other
is to bear witness

it means noticing what’s happening
and telling the truth about it

it’s hard to do
because it hurts to see pain

we’re taught to fix — not feel

it threatens our comfort or
we’re afraid of getting it wrong

it’s hard because it requires
presence without escape

most of us were never taught
how to stay when things get heavy
only how to move on

good news —
it’s a skill that can grow

i invite you
to notice a place
of tension in your body

gently place your hand
over that space
and receive this love

i see how much it hurts

you should not
have to endure this

you are doing
a really hard thing

deep breath in
and out

practice receiving love
so you can offer that
love to others

we all need it
right now

Invitations to Reflect

  • Where in my body do I feel tension or heaviness right now, and what might it be asking me to notice rather than fix?
  • When I encounter pain - my own or someone else’s - what helps me stay present, and what pulls me toward escape or solutions?
